Among the products that Paperworld London makes and distributes is a collection of “crooked” books.
The Line includes diares and notebooks , all of which are entirely handmade.
While the line is based on the old black exercise books used in Italian schools early last century, each product has a somewhat crooked shape.But the shape isn’t jiust a gimmick. The design, protected by an international patent, is based on medical and scientific research.
The Inventor is Marco Mazza.
Featuring a diagonal spine, the Sghemba is designed to adapt to the natural inclination of the human eye.
When writing in the book , its ergonomic angles help avoid placing the arm or forearm in uncomfortable positions, while when reading, the angles involved make it easier on the eyes.
These original book are available in a pocket size and a larger size suitable for the handbag.
The cover is black with the word “ Sghemba “ engraved in gold. The edges of the pages are red ,blue,green and yellow – The same colors as the elasticized strap that secures the bookmark ribbon is basic black.
The Sghemba line is available at better stationers and specialist writing instrument stores.

Per questo nasce SGHEMBA Marco Mazza, inventore nato a Bergamo classe 1965.
Gli oggetti che ci accompagnano ogni giorno sono, per nostra convinzione, quanto di meglio l'uomo non abbia mai realizzato. Finché non si trova qualcosa di meglio.
L'uomo, nel percorso della storia, ha sempre ideato e creato strumenti che gli facilitassero la vita, la comunicazione con gli altri. In questo il genio d'uomo era rimasto uguale nei millenni. Nell'era della pietra il nostro antenato si costruiva la zattera che gli permetteva di navigare sul fiume nella speranza di pescarsi qualcosa da mangiare. Oggi si naviga in Internet "pescando" le nuove informazioni.
Pero’ c'e una cosa che l'uomo preistorico non ha potuto provare - lo stress. Possiamo vantarci solo noi, le ultime generazioni, di aver subito lo stress di traffico cittadino, famiglia da gestire e impegni quotidiani da assolvere sempre con l’occhio sull'orologio. Oggi non bisogna combattere un nemico fisico come i nostri antenati che brandivano le loro armi primitive e si buttavano contro di chi cercava fargli male. In quest’epoca il nemico é invisibile e ancora più pericoloso. Bisogna usare la testa per combatterlo.
La ricerca aiuta l’uomo nella lotta allo stress migliorando la vita quotidiana. Oggi si studia per la qualità della vita riducendo posizioni scomode e sforzi eccessivi.
Tante industrie si sono già adattate - l'industria automobilistica produce macchine con posti guida sempre più comodi, costruiti "intorno" al conducente, gli apparecchi televisivi si stanno allargando per rientrare meglio nel nostro campo visivo, le tastiere dei computer e tanti elettrodomestici nelle nostre case sono più comodi da usare e maneggiare. Addirittura possiamo comprarci un bel paio di jeans - indovinate come - ergonomico!
All'interno di questa filosofia e nata la forma trapezoidale Sghemba- prodotto dell'uomo per facilitare il compiere delle attività quotidiane. Nonostante la tendenza all'informatizzazione spinta deve essere rivalutata l'utilità dei "supporti cartacei" che rimangono sempre il principale strumento da utilizzare per scrittura e lettura, per la registrazione degli appunti e per la consultazione.

Per festeggiare il suo quindicesimo compleanno, l'affermata forma editoriale Sghemba viene rivisitata inserendo nel logo i colori della bandiera di madre patria, l'Italia!
A partire dal 2011 tutte le collezioni mondiali dei licenziatari di Sghemba, avranno il tricolore nel marchio.
Marco Mazza, l'Inventore di Sghemba ha voluto con questo restiling far pulsare il "designed in Italy" riconoscibile in tutto il mondo.
